How do I download the Platform for Care application on my Android?

Step-by-step guide for Android and Google Play users

1. Locate the App on the Google Play Store

The Platform for Care app is hosted on the Google Play Store and is free for all employees of registered organizations.

  1. Open the Google Play Store app on your Android device.
  2. Tap the Search bar at the top of the screen.
  3. Type "Platform for Care" and tap the search icon.
  4. Find the app in the results (look for the official Platform for Care branding).
  5. Tap Install.

2. Managing App Permissions

For the app to function correctly—specifically for location-verified clock-ins and real-time alerts—you must grant the following permissions:

  1. Open the App: Once installed, tap Open from the Play Store or find the icon on your home screen.
  2. Allow Notifications: When prompted, tap Allow. This ensures you receive immediate pings for shift invitations and schedule changes.
  3. Location Access: When the app asks for location permissions, select "While using the app".
    • Note: The app requires GPS to confirm you are at the service location when starting or ending a shift.

3. Signing In

Before you can see your roster, you must link the app to your specific organization.

  1. Organization URL: Enter the unique web address provided by your manager (e.g., companyname.platformforcare.com).
  2. Username: This is the email address used to set up your employee profile.
  3. Password: Enter the password you created via your activation email.
    • Tip: If you haven't set a password yet, search your email inbox for an "Activation" link from Platform for Care.
  4. Tap Login.

Troubleshooting Installation Issues

  • "Device Not Compatible": Ensure your Android OS is updated to the latest version. Go to Settings > Software Update to check for available updates.
  • Storage Space: If the app fails to download, check that you have enough free storage space in Settings > Storage.
  • Play Store Errors: If the Play Store hangs, try clearing the Play Store cache in your device settings or restarting your phone.
