How do I set my notification preferences?

Managing how and when you receive alerts on your phone.

To ensure you never miss an important shift update, client message, or administrative announcement, it is vital to configure your notification settings correctly. Platform for Care allows you to customise how you receive these alerts so you can stay informed without being overwhelmed during your personal time.

1. Accessing Notification Settings

You can manage your notification preferences directly within the Platform for Care mobile app.

  1. Open the Platform for Care app on your mobile device.
  2. Tap on the Profile icon or the Settings gear (usually located in the top-right or bottom-right corner).
  3. Select Notification Settings from the menu.

2. Customising Alert Types

The system allows you to toggle different types of alerts based on your preferences. You can typically choose between:

  • Push Notifications: These appear on your phone’s lock screen or notification tray.
  • In-App Alerts: These appear as "pings" or badges within the app itself while you are using it.
  • Email Notifications: Summary alerts sent to your registered email address for official documentation or shift confirmations.

To adjust these:

  1. Review the list of notification categories (e.g., New Shift Assigned, Shift Cancelled, Message Received).
  2. Toggle the switch ON or OFF for each category according to your preference.

3. Managing Device-Level Permissions

If you have enabled notifications in the app but are still not receiving them, you may need to check your phone's operating system settings.

For iOS (iPhone):

  1. Go to Settings > Notifications.
  2. Find Platform for Care in the list.
  3. Ensure Allow Notifications is turned on and choose your preferred alert style (Banners, Sounds, Badges).

For Android:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Platform for Care.
  2. Tap Notifications.
  3. Ensure the master switch is set to Show Notifications.

Troubleshooting Notifications

  • No Sound: Check if your phone is on "Silent" or "Vibrate" mode. Ensure "Sounds" are enabled in both the app and the phone's system settings.
  • Delayed Alerts: This is often caused by "Battery Optimisation" settings on Android devices. Ensure Platform for Care is set to "Don't Optimise" to allow background data sync.
  • Missing Important Alerts: Ensure you haven't accidentally toggled off "Shift Changes," as these are critical for ensuring you arrive at the correct location at the correct time.
