How do I start my shift?

Using the mobile app to clock-in and begin your work.

This guide provides employees with step-by-step instructions on how to use the Platform for Care mobile app to clock in and officially begin a shift. Ensuring you are signed in correctly allows the system to accurately track your working hours for payroll and verify your location for safety and compliance.

1. Accessing Your Roster

Before you can start your work, you must locate your scheduled shift within the mobile application.

  1. Open the Platform for Care mobile app on your device.
  2. Navigate to your personal roster to see all upcoming published shifts.
  3. Tap on the specific shift you are ready to begin. The shift detail overview will open.

2. Clocking In to Your Shift

Once you have arrived at the service location, follow these steps to clock in.

  1. Verify Location: Ensure your device's GPS functionality is enabled, as the app uses this to confirm you are at the correct service address.
  2. Select Action: Within the shift detail screen, click on the Select Action menu.
  3. Start Shift: Select the option to Start Shift or Clock In.
  4. Biometric Verification (If Enabled): If your organisation requires it, you may be prompted to complete a biometric check (such as a fingerprint or facial scan) or a photo upload to verify your identity.

Important Note: If the shift has not been published by your administrator, it will not appear in your personal roster, and you will be unable to complete it.

Troubleshooting Shift Arrival

If you are unable to clock in to your shift, please check the following:

  • Internet Connection: Ensure you have an active data or Wi-Fi connection.
  • GPS Settings: Verify that Platform for Care has permission to access your device's location.
  • Timing: The system may prevent you from clocking in if you are too far ahead of the scheduled start time.
  • Missing Documents: Check if any of your mandatory documents (e.g., First Aid or Police Check) have expired, as this may restrict you from starting the shift
