How to Receive Vacancy and System Alerts.
Setting up notifications for new shifts and open roles.
Staying informed about new work opportunities and schedule changes is key to managing your workload effectively. In Platform for Care, you can receive real-time alerts for shift vacancies, roster updates, and administrative announcements directly on your mobile device.
1. Types of Alerts You Will Receive
The system automatically triggers notifications to keep you up to date without you having to check the app constantly.
- Shift Invitations (Vacancies): When a coordinator needs to fill a gap, they may send a request to qualified staff. You will receive a notification to "Accept" or "Decline" the work.
- Roster Updates: If a manager publishes a new roster or makes changes to an existing shift (such as a time or location update), you will be notified immediately.
- Leave Approvals: You will receive an alert once your formal leave request has been reviewed and either approved or declined by management.
- Compliance Reminders: The system will ping you when mandatory documents (like your Police Check or First Aid) are approaching their expiry date.
2. Enabling Push Notifications (Mobile App)
To ensure you receive these alerts in real-time, you must grant the app permission to send "Push Notifications" on your smartphone.
For iOS (iPhone):
- Go to Settings > Notifications.
- Find Platform for Care in the list.
- Toggle Allow Notifications to ON.
- Ensure "Alerts" are checked for Lock Screen, Notification Centre, and Banners.
For Android:
- Go to Settings > Apps > Platform for Care.
- Tap on Notifications.
- Ensure the toggle for All Platform for Care Notifications is ON.
3. Configuring In-App Preferences
Once your phone permissions are set, you can refine which types of alerts you want to receive within the app itself.
- Open the Platform for Care app.
- Tap on your Profile or the Settings gear icon.
- Select Notification Preferences.
- Toggle specific categories ON or OFF (e.g., you may want Push Notifications for "Shift Changes" but only Email for "General Announcements").
- Tap Save.
4. Managing Vacancies
When a new vacancy alert arrives, it will appear in your notification tray. Tapping it will take you directly to the Vacancies tab.
- Broadcast Alerts: Sent to all qualified staff. These are usually "first-in, first-served."
- Direct Offers: Sent specifically to you by a coordinator. These will often stay in your "Pending" list for a set amount of time before expiring.
Troubleshooting Alert Issues
- No Alerts Received: Check if your phone is in "Do Not Disturb" or "Focus" mode, as these settings block all incoming app pings.
- Missing Vacancies: If you aren't seeing any shift offers, ensure your Availability is updated. The system will not send you vacancies for times you have marked as "Unavailable."
- Delay in Pings: Ensure you are running the latest version of the app. Old versions can sometimes lose connection with the notification server.
