How to Use the Mobile App Features
A general overview of navigating the mobile platform.
The Platform for Care mobile app is designed to give healthcare practitioners and support workers all the tools they need in the palm of their hand. From checking your schedule to documenting care in real-time, this guide provides a high-level overview of the app's primary navigation and core features.
1. The Dashboard: Your Command Center
When you first log in, you are greeted by the Dashboard. This screen provides an immediate snapshot of your workday.
- Next Shift: The very next scheduled activity is displayed prominently at the top so you know exactly where you need to be.
- Quick Actions: Large, easy-to-tap buttons for common tasks like "Clock In" or "View Today's Roster."
- Announcements: Stay informed with important updates or alerts sent by your organization’s administration.
2. Main Navigation Menu
Most of the app's power is tucked into the main menu (usually accessed via the three horizontal lines or "hamburger" icon).
- Rosters: View your published shifts in a list or calendar format. This is where you go to plan your week.
- Vacancies: Browse available shifts that haven't been filled yet. You can "Accept" or "Express Interest" in extra work here.
- Timesheets: Review your completed shifts. This section shows the status of your hours (Pending, Approved, or Processed).
- Leave: Submit new leave requests or check your existing balance for Annual or Sick leave.
- Profile & Documents: View your employee details and check the expiry dates of your mandatory documents (e.g., NDIS Worker Check, First Aid).
3. Essential In-Shift Features
Once you have clocked into a shift, the app interface changes to help you focus on care delivery:
- Client Profiles: Access essential information about the person you are supporting, including their care plan and emergency contacts.
- Progress Notes: Document the support provided. You can type notes directly into the app or use voice-to-text features if enabled on your device.
- Task Lists: Follow a structured checklist of duties to ensure no part of the care plan is missed.
- Incidents: Report any accidents or health concerns immediately via the integrated incident reporting tool.
4. Communication & Alerts
Stay connected with your team without needing to share your personal phone number or email.
- In-App Messaging: Send and receive secure messages with your supervisors or coordinators.
- Notifications: Receive real-time "pings" for new shift offers, changes to your current roster, or reminders about expiring certifications.
Troubleshooting Navigation
- App Feels Slow: Ensure you are running the latest version of the app from the App Store or Google Play Store.
- Missing Icons: If you can't see a specific feature (like 'Leave' or 'Vacancies'), your organization may have restricted that feature. Contact your System Admin to verify your permissions.
- Offline Mode: While the app works best with a connection, some features allow for data entry in low-reception areas; the information will sync once you are back online.
