Frequently Asked Questions - Visas.

Managing right to work and compliance information is something that Oncore aims to make easy for you. Here are some FAQ's when it comes to visas and work rights in Australia.

What right to work information does Oncore capture during their worker onboarding process?

As part of Oncore’s onboarding process, we collect all relevant right to work information for your workers.

If they are an Australian citizen then we capture a copy of their:

  • Australian Passport

OR

  • Birth Certificate/Citizenship Certificate

AND

  • A Driver's License, or other government-issued photographic identification.

If they are not an Australian citizen we capture:

  • Passport

We then perform a Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) check. This will in turn provide full visa information, including grant date, expiry, type and any applicable working conditions.

VEVO provides details relating to an individual’s current in-effect visa:

  • which visa
  • the expiry date
  • the must not arrive after date
  • the period of stay (how long you can stay)
  • conditions (what you can and can't do).

VEVO is not able to provide any details relating to visas that are not ‘in-effect’. For example, if an individual holds a Bridging visa but their substantive visa has not yet expired.

Oncore will ensure that we record any restrictions or notable dates in our systems. It is also up to the individual worker to be aware of their restrictions and abide by the conditions of their visa.

In the event of tenure restrictions, we will let your agency know and set up the worker’s contract to conclude in line with the visa or tenure expiry date.

We will monitor visa expiry dates, changes and also ensure we are regularly reviewing bridging visas every three months.

Does Oncore keep visa information on file for my workers? How can I access this?

As part of our compliance with relevant legislation, Oncore must keep records on file for a defined period of time (depending on what the records pertain to). Should you need to request a copy of a worker’s right to work information, please contact us at supportaus@oncoreservices.com and we will respond to you within 24 hours or the next available business day.

My worker has updated their visa. Do I need to give this information to Oncore?

Yes. If you receive any updated personal details from your workers, including visa information, please ensure that this information is communicated to Oncore. You can send relevant information through to us at supportaus@oncoreservices.com.

Where do I find the most current information on visas?

The Department of Immigration always has the most up to date information on visa types, conditions and restrictions. You can easily view and search for visa types, and find comprehensive information on any work limitations.

It is important that you have a clear understanding of a candidate’s work rights prior to placing them; they should be transparent about this as it is in their own best interest to thoroughly understand and adhere to the conditions of their visa. If you cannot find the relevant visa information that you are after, or are still not clear on whether there are conditions or restrictions that you need to be aware of - please reach out to us on 1300 654 484 to discuss further.
